I liked the idea that a tweet is restricted to 140 characters - that keeps the long-winded and chatterbox types honest! Sometimes too, that concise piece of information can pique your interest in a subject, rather than long-winded chattering which turns me off.

LibraryThing
This was an interesting site and I found it relatively user-friendly. It's a site that I think some of our customers might find useful - I have a few friends who are always asking about "good reads" so it's a site I could direct them to. Personally, I doubt if I would have time to use it myself.

Online Productivity Tools.
I chose Google Docs and found that it was very easy to use. It's certainly a tool that would be useful for those who only need to use this type of application infrequently- and free, too. I liked the feature that allowed you to view your documents online from any computer and also the fact that Google Docs is available anywhere that the Internet is available - for instance, some public terminals I have used do not have Microsoft Office loaded. The calendar would be much more useful for someone who is working most often at a desk. I need to stick to the "old fashioned" paper calendar as I'm always moving around and not often near a computer more than once a day, if that.

Flikr &YouTube
Well, if I could use Flikr and YouTube without much thought or effort, they must be user-friendly!
I could see that Flikr might be useful to me in a couple of ways - searching for photos on a certain topic and editing photos. I'm not sure that I need to use YouTube - a lot like America's Funniest Home Videos, which I don't watch and too many people sharing too much poor-quality material that I don't need to see.

Really Simple Syndication - Week 6
I was unable to set up an RSS feed to the CBC - tried twice - but I did subscribe to 5 from the list, Laura's CPL Food blog and one other, so all was not lost!
I suppose that if there was nothing else in life to do but gather information, it would be a convenient way to do it, but you know what we often say - "too much information!"
The secret is to "manage" the amount of information and that can be difficult and time-consuming in this age of electronic information. With all the sharing of information, companies, groups and individuals you don't know, nor want to know seem to be able to access you in different ways. So much of that kind of "information" is what I'd consider "garbage information".

Google Products - Week 5
Google products are great!
- very easy to see from the list everything that is available
- very simple site to use
- I have always liked "Images"
- I checked out "Scholar" and found it easy to use
- I tried "Translate" and it was amazing - could really have used it myself if it had been available about 20 years ago!
- Would recommend the product to customers.

Facebook! Week 4
I suppose that Facebook could be both useful and a timewaster, depending on what you are looking for. It could be useful for me if I was looking for someone, though there are other ways that I could probably find that person . I prefer person to person interaction really and am more interested in exercising, being outside, being with people and doing, rather than sitting in front of a screen for long periods of time, so - I guess Facebook for me would be mostly a timewaster - though, who knows, I could be converted once I'm older!

Wikipedia - Week 3
Well it was very easy to find the "food of the gods" - HAGGIS - on Wikipedia and fairly easy to edit the site to make the " flagship of Scottish foods" more palatable to those who may turn up their noses at it - slice, fry in a little oil until crispy and serve with either Scotch Whisky Cream Sauce or Dijon Mustard Cream Sauce. You should all try it!

Blethering about Delicious - CPL 2.0 Week 2
Well here we are in Week 3 already and only doing Week 2's assignment - seems to me that would be late already!
So, what do I think of "Delicious"? - strange name for a "social bookmarking" site and I really don't feel the need to share social bookmarks with people all over the world!
As far as using "Delicious" in the workplace, there certainly are advantages in that the site - tags - save time, are sortable and I find that it is fairly efficient. I suppose, given the choice, I would say that I preferred the "old" Best Websites.
A disadvantage of "Delicious" would be that sometimes your logic and thought processes are different from the person who produced the tag bundle headings making it difficult to decide where to look.
Enough blethers for now

CPL 2.0 Week 1
I'm hoping to learn how to get out of the "black hole" of not knowing how to blog, into the clear blue sky of blogging and that will be a miracle !
That's it for now.
That's it for now.
